Do I have to have cancer to participate in Cancer Lifeline Programs?
Cancer Lifeline serves everyone affected by cancer -survivors from diagnosis, caregivers, families, co-workers and friends.
How much do the classes cost?
All Cancer Lifeline programs are FREE of charge.
Can I take exercise and movement classes while I am in treatment?
You can take any of our classes -even while you are in treatment. They are designed to accommodate you at any stage of your cancer
process.
Do I need to talk to my doctor before taking a class?
Checking with you medical team is always a good idea.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes, please do! All of Cancer Lifeline classes are open to friends, family and co-workers -anyone affected by cancer. Your friends are also welcome to attend on their own.
Do I have to register for classes?
We ask that you register for classes to ensure your space is saved and to help us contact you if, for any reason, the class is cancelled.
Do I have to register for support groups?
No, it is fine to drop-in to support groups. If you want to learn more about a group before you attend, however, you can call the registration number (206) 297-2500.
Are you only in the Seattle area?
Cancer Lifeline’s 24-Hour information and support line (1 800 255-5505,
or in metropolitan Seattle (206) 297-2500) is nation wide. Anyone can call,
toll-free. Cancer Lifeline Services are available in the greater
metropolitan are of Seattle at the Dorothy S. O'Brien Center in North
Seattle, at the Northwest Hospital Medical Center campus, and Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington.
Can I come by the center any time to use the art studio?
The Dorothy O’Brien Center and the Eastgate office welcome drop-ins. See the side column on this page for hours.
Does Cancer Lifeline give financial support?
Cancer Lifeline administers the Komen Patient Assistance Fund for low income survivors who are within three months of treatment for breast
cancer -living or being treated in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Clallam, and Jefferson Counties in Washington State. Individuals must qualify
as low income and must apply through a social worker or other health care professional.
