Health Promotion ProgramCancer Lifeline's Health Promotion Program focuses on exercise, movement and nutrition. It offers a wide variety of physical and educational activities including:
Exercise classes are designed for all levels of ability and stages of treatment and recovery. They are open to survivors - from diagnosis -caregivers, family, friends, and co-workers. They are reviewed and approved by Cancer Lifeline's Medical Advisory Committee. The positive effects of exercise and eating well can ease many side effects of treatment. They can also help restore energy, regain muscle tone and control fatigue. These benefits are often as important for the caregiver as they are for the cancer survivor! Nutrition programs at Cancer Lifeline are designed to answer the question, "How do I eat now?" You'll learn how nutrients enhance your body's ability to recover from treatment and surgery, how to prepare, low-calorie food, and which foods are believed to boost your immune system. Nutritionist and author Kimberly Matthai, MS, RD, will demonstrate how you can cook easy, delicious, nutritious meals. Check our Activities Calendar for details and registration information.
