Cancer Lifeline wins award from WCCCP

Cancer Lifeline, a Seattle-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to optimize the quality of life for all people living with cancer, recently received the first annual community award from the Washington Comprehensive Cancer Control Partnership for “Outstanding efforts to reduce the burden of cancer in Washington State”. The WCCCP is a diverse group of organizations and individuals representing many key stakeholders in cancer prevention and control in Washington. The Partnership is staffed and funded by the Washington State Department of Health through a federal grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

An etched plaque was presented to Cancer Lifeline on April 27th, 2006 for its vital work with clients - offering free support services and classes designed to meet the needs of people living with cancer. The organization was established in 1973 and provides a 24 hour telephone “Lifeline”, education and support groups, family support programs, healing arts for creative expression program, healthy promotion program, plus workplace consultation.

Cancer Lifeline was nominated for the award by Rhonda Jack, Manager of Cancer Resources, of Overlake Hospital.
